  1. Job Summary:                                                                                                                                   

The Production Planning (PP) Business Analyst is responsible for the functional requirements, design, configuration, maintenance, tests, and support of SAP PP processes to effectively meet business requirements by means of SAP best practices.


This position collaborates across the enterprise on a global and local level, working closely with functional Key Users, technical resources, and the global PP team to implement successful business systems. 


  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



 System / Problem Analysis:

  • Responds to immediate production problems including coordination with internal and external support resources.
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves complex process and system problems based on business requirements and provides clear and alternative resolutions.
  • Evaluates SAP solutions in support of business requirements. 
  • Problem solves in a time-constrained situation.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge and understanding of PP business process within the organization; supports the resolution of functional business issues; identifies current and future state business processes.




Solution Development:

  • Manages the life-cycle of SAP small enhancements and break-fix tickets to include gathering requirements, creating and updating functional specs, configuration, conducting unit, integration, regression, and UAT testing; supporting documentation, system integrations, and migration to production.
  • Provides solutions for all PP processes and modules in production planning and execution; manages batch jobs and develops LSMW’s.
  • Develops business solutions leveraging SAP PP configuration capabilities and knowledge of key integration points of PP with MM, SD, LO, FI/CO modules.
  • Researches, develops, and proposes both short and long-term solutions to SAP to meet business requirements.





Consulting and Support: 

  • Demonstrates understanding of all aspects of a full life cycle SAP implementation.
  • Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for implementation of process improvements for system and process stability.
  • Provides knowledge and shares expertise with other Business Analysts to develop effective solutions.
  • Provides technical assistance in training all levels of SAP users; develops curriculum and conducts training sessions.
  • Stays abreast of current operational trends and technologies in the field of ERP management.
  • Maintains a business-process focus by understanding the needs of multiple stakeholders and facilitating the negotiation of requirements amongst them.





Project Management:

  • Teamwork and collaboration expertise with significant experience in taking a leadership role in teams and project activities; demonstrates coordination and team leadership skills; manages cross-functional project teams.
  • Supports the deployment of production systems and provides post-production support.
  • Develops and communicates project plans including accurate time, cost estimates, risk analysis, and production support activities; informs team members and stakeholders of project or development status.
  • Plans and coordinates system upgrade activities.
  • Manages cross-functional project teams.





  • Performs all job functions in a safe manner and maintains safety awareness.
  • Reports known accidents, injuries and unsafe practices and/or conditions to manager.



  1. Qualifications   Additional years of experience or education may be substituted for each other as determined by Human Resources. 


  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience and demonstration of the skills identified in this job description.
  2. A minimum of 4 years SAP PP configuration experience.
  3. A minimum of 2 full life-cycle implementations of SAP which must include requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, blueprinting, functional testing, integration, and SAP configuration.
  4. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a production support environment.
  5. Functional business knowledge within the PP OTC business processes.
  6. Additional experience with EDI/IDOC, ABAP, BW/BI, MM, LO, VC, ATP, APO, or CRM preferred but not required.
  7. High degree of emotional intelligence competencies.
  8. Exceptional verbal and non-verbal communication, presentation, listening, negotiation, problem-solving, decision making, and assertiveness skills; attention to detail and ability to build collaboration across the enterprise.
  9. Ability to travel up to 10%, including globally on short notice.
  10. Passport required for global travel.
  11. Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.



  1. Physical Demands and/or Work Environment:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard, calculator, and telephone. Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift (10 lbs.), and an ability to adjust vision for close vision work.  Up to 10% of time spent in manufacturing environments around industrial equipment.  Able to travel up to 10% to other Company locations.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
